The year is 1348 and plague is ravaging central Europe. People call it many names - the Black Death, Pestilence, the Great Mortality. It's spreading like wildfire, seemingly nothing can stop it.

Maybe you can.

You are Muriceps, unsung hero with the impossible task of saving humanity.

Can you stop the spread, or will you fall with the rest of humanity?

First tiny post-game-jam update - I just changed font to something more readable. Otherwise it's the same version as we did in two weeks.

We plan to do more changes in the future, we're very glad for this community and feedback they provided :)

Nice game! Cool idea with the visuals. Dialogue font not so easy to read!

Great game! Such a wonderful setting. I love the art and music especially.

I ran into an issue on the second level of story mode where it showed there was one rat remaining, despite me checking every room several times with no rat to be seen. I had to restart the game to fix it.

I enjoyed the dialogue a lot but I struggled to read it fluidly because of the font. It's fitting thematically but maybe a slightly more readable font could be used.

As others have said, the art style of this game is very entertaining. I especially loved the dedicated purr button, which felt very nice to listen to. I'm a sucker for simple medieval graphic art games, they are always adorable. Good job creating multiple modes for your game, and all the various cutscenes. There were some Thor references I didn't get, but overall it was humorous and brought a smile to my face.

In terms of room for improvement, I'd suggest looking into collision, as it seems the player can get hooked on narrow hallways on occasion. These type of games are driven by story, and the interest in progressing through the gameplay, so it can be a bit frustrating hunting down enemies in a maze. You were able to design it so it was manageable, but other similar games in this jam had me quitting early because I couldn't bother looking for the missing fella. Good ways to avoid that problem are to make the maze feel more convoluted than it actually is, or to put extra enemies in the level so you don't have to hunt for every last one!

There are other minor feedback I could provide but considering this was your first experience in Godot, I'm proud of your achievements.

Thanks for review <3

The art drew me in, the game hooked me, the writing made me laugh (but perhaps because I am a goblin)
Loved the duel control options (wasd, mouse, or using a mix). the font type was a little hard to read sometimes, but I did enjoy the game and played on all 3 difficulties. I had a blast playing, and I hope you are proud of what you have made <3

I really liked the art style. I feel like the game play was a little lacking. If you could find a more interesting implementation of the game play loop. Also I had a rat spawn outside the boundaries and I got soft locked.

Keep up the art style though, its unique and fun.

Thanks for playing! :)

This was our first game, there might be a lot of polishing 😅. Unfortunate with the rat outside of boundaries. I wanted a bit more randomised spawns. I hoped that I've fixed those spawning too far away, but I guess somewhere it slipped during last changes.

Love the art and the story :D

Thanks <3 :)

Beautiful artwork, really creative story telling. Many rats were slain!

Haha, thanks, I tried to have some nice storytelling and at the same time, some fun for PirateSoftware community :

Artwork is from medieval manuscripts, but I animated and edited it to get it in game. If this were a full game, it would be amazing to get it done better and create some of our own in the same style.

What an amazing piece of art! Great Game, I had a blast playing it! And thanks for submitting it.

Thanks very much for the review, I watched the VOD :)

I'm glad you liked it :D We took sprites from historical manuscripts and animated them, if we had dedicated artist it would be awesome to have more made in this style :D

Also I see that boss battle was a bit confusing - I didn't wan't player to jump too fast with all the information, but I think I should have done it a bit differently to let player know they should continue - but you figured it out!

Boss battle in story mode was indeed just those 3 rats - it's much tougher in normal("The hunter") mode :)
And yes, you correctly noticed that the rats are spreading - probably too slow in the story mode, which I wanted to be really easy.

Had a ye ol time playeth this gameth. Nice job!

♥ Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! :)
